Pet Cemetery
Whether dachshund, Persian cat, dwarf hamster, floppy ear rabbit, ornamental turtle, guinea pig or canary: the most faithful companion of many people is usually shredded in a carcass disposal plant.
However, as love of animals often goes beyond death, more and more people bury their darlings at a pet cemetery. Here their animals can expect a respectful and dignified treatment, and their former owners have a place to grieve. In Berlin alone there is a great need: in the "capital of the singles", 860,000 households have one or more pets. The Bärliner Tierfriedhof offers over 4,000 square meters of community or individual graves. Many of these tombs celebrate the beloved and now deceased Purzel, Hoppel, Mausi, Federballchen or Wuschel with special memorabilia: a silver-framed photo here, a paw print there, gnawing rattles or jeweled collars.
