Buchenwald

Today's memorial site of the former KZ Buchenwald near Weimar in Thuringia was once one of the largest concentration camps on German soil.

In total, around 277,000 people from 50 countries were imprisoned in Buchenwald between 1937 and 1945. The death toll is estimated at around 56,000.
