Zukunft Heimat, Homeland Future, a far-right-wing group supported by the AfD, gathers with thousands of supporters in the East-German city of Cottbus on a regular basis to protest against the government's migration policy and to call on Chancellor Angela Merkel to resign.

Rallies of right-wing groups in the tradition of the populist Pegida movement with a strong anti-Islam rhetoric have begun spreading from Dresden to many other cities in Germany. Cottbus remains especially in focus, with its strong neo-Nazi scene and numerous incidents of refugee harassment and attacks by neo-Nazis.
