D-Day remembered, 75 years on
At daybreak on 6 June 1944, Normandy in France was the setting for the largest amphibian invasion in the history of warfare. The joined allied forces landing operations on the Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno and Sword Beaches changed the outcome of WWII and lead to the eventual defeat of Nazi Germany.
Normandy will bear the scares and traces of this historical moment for ever. In 2019 the 75th anniversary will be remembered in numerous commemorations.
